Key Plant manufacture New Girth Welding machines designed to assist the welding and fabricating of storage tanks for oil, water, gas, grain and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tanks. The purpose of Key Plant’s girth welding machines is for the joining and welding together of horizontal steel plates.

The girth welder sits of top of the plate with an operator and travels around the storage tank automatically welding together the joints and plates immediate below. Once the horizontal joint has been completely welded externally the girth welder can be lifted off and if required the same joint welded from inside, internally. The girth welder is then lifted up a level to the next series of plates and the process is repeated until the tank is completed.

The girth welder is not only used for the horizontal joints but it can be also used to assist welding the vertical joints.

To increase production Key plant offer not only single sided but double sided machines to weld the storage tanks internally and externally at the same.
 
Key Plant's designed enables the welding flux to positioned into the joint and removed via a transfer conveyor system were the excess flux is recycled to be able to be reused.
